Sport 2000 tip: if you’re visiting for a day or a weekend, we recommend staying near the village of Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée. Its Pinatelle gondola gives direct access to Auron’s slopes without driving up to the main station. The parking lot has 250 free spaces—take advantage of it.

One of the Niçois’ favorite resorts is Isola 2000, located just 90 km from Nice. Want to enjoy both mountains and the sea? On a clear day, you can see the sea from the Sistron peak (2,610 meters).
Beyond the view, Isola 2000 is primarily a human-scale resort with a fairly large ski area divided into 3 sectors:
A Nordic area is also available, allowing activities such as cross-country skiing, ski touring, snowshoeing, sledding, and dog sledding.
Don’t be surprised to encounter some military remains on the trails, as the resort once served as a border post with Italy. You can also venture to the Italian side for a snowshoe hike overlooking the resort.
